Itinerary

Day 1
A Moroccan Welcome

Upon arriving at Marrakech Menara Airport, a private driver will take you to your accommodation, which is located in the historic area of the city. It's a great spot for families to explore Marrakech, as it's just a short walk from the main square, Djemaa el Fna, and surrounded by local shops and restaurants. After checking in, take some time to relax and unwind, maybe even take a dip in the hotel pool. There's no rush to do anything too hectic, especially after a long journey. In the evening, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the area, grab a bite to eat, and maybe even check out some local shops for souvenirs. It's a great opportunity for families to experience the unique culture and atmosphere of Marrakech together.

We used Original Travel for part of our trip to Morocco from April 14th to 20th. We had already arranged the first few days ourselves, and Original Travel assisted us in planning the rest of the journey. During the planning phase, we had an extensive and generally constructive dialogue with our travel consultant, Ali. We told them the importance of authentic experiences, beautiful nature, and good hiking opportunities. These wishes were initially acknowledged, and the trip was tailored to our preferences. However, the process was marked by repeated misunderstandings, as Ali continued to suggested tours and hotels we had already declined. We suspect that automated responses by AI were used too heavily, leading to a lack of attention to our specific requirements. To their credit, Original Travel were quick to respond and handle issues both before and during the trip. Unfortunately, we also encountered disappointments that affected the overall experience. For example, we had expected more unique and local experiences, as emphasized during planning. Instead, we were steered toward highly touristy activities—exactly what we had hoped to avoid by using a specialized travel agency. We had also assumed our driver would act more as a guide with local knowledge and storytelling and authentic recommendation as we asked for during our trip. This was not the case; he primarily served as a driver transporting us between locations, with minimal engagement. Several practical issues also arose along the way: - A hotel room was booked without the sea view we had explicitly requested and had confirmed in writing. This was a non-negotiable condition for us to stay at that particular hotel. - The hotel’s pool area was closed, despite being one of the main reasons we chose it for relaxation. We had been hesitant about this hotel from the start and only agreed to it after our first choice was booked too late. This closure should have been flagged to us in advance. - At one point, we were asked to pay for a guided tour even though we were told that guided tours were included and we should not expect any extra costs. - A kitesurfing activity was scheduled even though the conditions—low wind and high waves—were unsuitable for beginners. Ironically, we had just left another area with ideal conditions and plenty of active kitesurfers. We believe this should have been checked with the local provider before confirming the activity. We ended up surfing instead, which was cheaper, and have since requested a refund for the price difference—but never received a response. - The itinerary was a couple of times changed without consultation. For instance, a camel ride and a donkey tour were added, despite us clearly declining such activities from the outset due to ethical concerns. We appreciate Original Travel’s attempt to compensate us by offering two dinners. However, overall, the trip fell short of our expectations—especially given the price. We did not feel that our preferences were taken seriously during the planning from the booker or execution of the trip.

We are from Dallas, USA. Thank you, Imane and Saiid, for the wonderful and memorable trip to Morrocco. We enjoyed our stay at the Riads, with delicious food and nice hospitality. Desert experience was awesome, including camel rides, ATV rides, Jeep rides. Enjoyed warm and cozy tents and the music they played at night. Thanks also to Lahcen our guide who drove us all around Morrocco to get to the places and stop at great scenic spots on the way. Overall, it was a great experience!!

Fully recommend Original Travels! Ali was great and responsive during planning stages. Yassir was excellent in every aspect, not just a very safe driver; He is respectful and understood our situations. Said, the main contact during the trip was accommodating to our special needs. The trip is certainly memorable, enriching and many times beyond words which can only be experienced! Our trip began in Casablanca, to Tangiers, Chefchaouen, Fez, Merzouga Desert, Boumalne Dades, Marrakesh and finally back to Casablanca. We witnessed various landscapes as if we are in multiple countries. We had an amazing culinary journey from the most delicious tagine in the Orient Desert Camp, the specialty of Marrakesh tanjia cooked by former royal chef to the fancy 5 courses meal in Dar Rihana in the remote valleys of Boumalne Dades. We experienced breath taking (see photo) hiking trail at Chefchaouen, literally breath taking as we are not fit 😀 We took more than 20k steps, probably the most in our life! Despite cold weather in the Sahara, we sandboarded, played soccer with Fatima, a nomad Berber girl, and had Moroccan mint tea with her family. Wanted to appreciate all tour guides namely Mohammed in Chefchaouen, Sharif in Fez, Mustapha and Hamzah in the Sahara, Grandpa Mohammad and his wife (thank you for delicious home cooked meal), and lastly Hanan in Marrakesh. Departing Morocco after three splendid weeks, we leave with heartfelt connections, a bigger belly, less phone storage with pictures, and a once in a lifetime experience recommended for everyone! We truly had an amazing time, and wished we could give more than 5 stars 🌟. Thank you Original Travels! Thank you Morocco!
